Campaigns for Client Billing
If you run an agency or do SEO freelance work, you probably bill clients for the backlinks you build. Campaigns track every credit spent on a client's links, so at the end of the month you open the campaign, see the total, multiply by your rate, and send the invoice. No manual tracking, no spreadsheets.
How it works
- Create a campaign named after the client (e.g. "Acme Corp").
- Add all their backlinks to that campaign as you build them.
- Every indexing check and submission burns credits, and each one is logged under the campaign.
- At billing time, open the campaign. You will see the total credits used. Multiply that by your per-credit rate and you have your invoice line item.

Tips for client billing
- Use a consistent naming convention. Something like "Client: Acme Corp" or "Project: E-commerce relaunch" keeps things sortable.
- Agree on your per-credit rate before work starts. Industry rates range from $1 to $10 per 1,000 credits depending on what services you bundle in (just indexing, or also outreach, content, etc.).
- Export the campaign stats at the end of each billing cycle. Having a record protects both you and the client if questions come up later.
Automate it with the API
Everything described above (campaigns, backlinks, credit usage, indexing status) is also available through the REST API. If you build or already have a client-facing CRM, you can pull campaign data directly into it and expose real-time indexing status to your clients without them ever seeing MyBacklinkIndex.
A few things agencies commonly do with the API:
- Sync campaign stats to their own dashboard. Pull link counts, indexing progress, and credit usage per campaign and display it inside the agency's own client portal.
- Submit backlinks programmatically. When a new backlink goes live in your system, push it to the API automatically instead of pasting URLs by hand.
- Trigger webhooks on status changes. Set up a webhook so that when a link moves from "checking" to "indexed", your CRM gets notified and can update the client's report in real time.
Your clients see your brand, your dashboard, your reports. The API runs in the background.
